Levoxa 500 mg (levofloxacin) 7 film-coated tablets in Pack

The name of your medicine is Levoxa tablets. Levoxa tablets contain a medicine called levofloxacin. It belongs to a group of medicines called antimicrobials. Levofloxacin is a “quinolone” antimicrobial. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infections in your body.

Levoxa tablets can be used to treat infections of:

• The sinuses
• Lungs, in patients with prolonged breathing problems or pneumonia
• Urinary tract, including kidney or bladder Prostate gland, in case of permanent infection
• Skin and subcutaneous tissue, including muscles, sometimes called “soft tissues”

In some special cases, Levoxa can be used to prevent a lung disease called anthrax or to prevent the severe course of the disease if you have inhaled spores of the bacteria that cause anthrax.

How much to take
• Your doctor will decide how many Levoxa tablets to take
• The dose depends on the type and location of the infection in your body
• The duration of your treatment depends on how serious the infection is.
• If you have the impression that the effect of your medicine is too strong or too weak, do not change the dose yourself, but ask your doctor.

Adults and elderly patients
Sinus infection
• Two 250 mg Levox tablets once a day or
• One 500 mg Levoxa tablet once a day

Lung infection in people with prolonged breathing problems
• Two 250 mg Levox tablets once a day or
• One 500 mg Levoxa tablet once a day Pneumonia
• Two 250 mg Levoxa tablets once or twice a day or
• One Levox 500 mg tablet, once or twice a day

Infection of the urinary tract, including the kidneys or bladder
• One or two tablets of Levox 250 mg daily or
• 1/2 or one tablet of Levox 500 mg daily Prostate infection
• Two 250 mg Levox tablets a day or
• One 500 mg tablet of Levoxa daily

Infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, including muscles
• Two 250 mg Levoxa tablets once or twice a day or
• One Levox 500 mg tablet, once or twice a day

Adults and elderly patients with kidney problems
Your doctor may prescribe a lower dose.

Children and adolescents
This medicine should not be given to children and adolescents.
The tablets can be divided into two equal doses.
