What Voltaren is and what it is used for

Your medicine is called Voltaren and is available in the form of gastro-resistant tablets. Each gastro-resistant tablet contains 25 mg or 50 mg of the drug diclofenac sodium. Voltaren belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that are used to treat pain and inflammation.

What Voltaren is used for

Voltaren is suitable for the treatment of the following conditions:

Rheumatic or degenerative joint pain (arthritis).
Back pain, Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, Tennis Elbow Syndrome and other forms of rheumatism.
Gout attacks.
Injuries, dislocations, or other injuries.
Pain and swelling after surgery.
Painful gynecological inflammatory conditions, including painful menstrual pain.
Infections of the ear, nose or throat.
How Voltaren works

Voltaren relieves the symptoms of inflammation such as pain and swelling by blocking the synthesis of molecules (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation, pain and fever. It does not act on the causes of inflammation or fever.
