What Victoza is and what it is used for
Victoza contains the active substance liraglutide. It helps your body reduce blood sugar levels only when blood sugar is too high. It also slows the passage of food through the stomach and can help prevent heart disease.

Victoza is used alone if your blood sugar is not properly controlled with diet and exercise alone and you cannot use metformin (another medicine for diabetes).

Victoza is used with other diabetes medicines when they are not sufficient to control your blood sugar levels. These may include:

oral antidiabetic medicines (such as metformin, pioglitazone, sulfonylureas) and / or insulin.
Before opening:
Store in a refrigerator (2C-8C). Do not freeze. Keep away from the freezer compartment.

During use:
You can store the pen at a temperature below 30C for 1 month or in a refrigerator (2C-8C) away from the freezer. Do not freeze.
When not using the pen, keep it with the cap on to protect it from light.

Do not use this medicine if the solution is not clear and colorless or almost colorless.

Do not dispose of medicines in sewage or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.

6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Victoza contains

The active substance is liraglutide. 1 ml of solution for injection contains 6 mg liraglutide. One pre-filled pen contains 18 mg liraglutide.
The other ingredients are disodium phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol and water for injections.
What Victoza looks like and contents of the pack
Victoza is supplied as a clear, colorless or near colorless solution for injection in a pre-filled pen. Each pen contains 3 ml solution delivering 30 doses of 0.6 mg, 15 doses of 1.2 mg or 10 doses of 1.8 mg.
Victoza is available in packs containing 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 pens. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
Needles are not included in the pack.
