What is Pancef and what is it used for?

Pancef (cefixime) is an oral antibiotic in the cephalosporins group. Cefixime has shown activity both in vitro and in clinical infections against most strains of the following microorganisms: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and others.

Pancef is recommended for the treatment of infections caused by cefixim-sensitive microorganisms, namely: acute upper and lower respiratory tract infections, incl. pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute bronchitis and acute chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, acute and acute chronic sinusitis; urinary tract infections; uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical / urethral).

What Pancef contains:
The active substance is cefixime.
Each film-coated tablet contains 400 mg of cefixime as trihydrate.

The other ingredients are: starch, pre-gelatinized; cellulose, microcrystalline; calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate; gelatin; cornstarch; sodium lauryl sulfate; magnesium stearate; hypromellose; macrogol 4000; titanium dioxide.

What does Pancef look like and what does the package contain?
Pancef film-coated tablets are pale cream to white, oblong, biconvex film-coated tablets with a dividing line on one side.

The film-coated tablets are packaged in a brown glass bottle. The carton contains 5 or 10 tablets (1 bottle) and a leaflet for the user.

The film-coated tablets are packaged in a clear PVC / TE / PVdC / Al blister. The carton contains 5 tablets (one (1) blister) and a leaflet for the user or 10 tablets / two blisters) and a leaflet for the user.
