WHAT IS 5-HYDROXYTRIPTOPHOPHAN (5-NTR)
5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is a substance that is formed in the human body by the essential amino acid tryptophan, which enters the body through food.
In the brain, 5-hydroxytryptophan turns into serotonin, a substance that transmits nerve impulses between brain cells.
Serotonin is also known as the “hormone of happiness”.
The supplemental administration of 5-hydroxytryptophan in tablet form increases the levels of serotonin in the brain and thus favorably affects conditions associated with low levels of serotonin without causing side effects, unlike other drugs intended for these conditions.
2. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Conditions caused by low levels of serotonin are:
1.1. Depression
Depression is a condition requiring specialized medical care and is different from the known “lack of mood” and “feeling depressed”. Depression is characterized by lack of interest in daily activities, lack of energy and ability to concentrate, feelings of helplessness, hopelessness and sadness, futility and inadequacy, poor sleep, reduced sexual activity, significant weight gain or loss, fatigue, headache, etc. .
Depression is not a weakness of character and is not the fault of the patient. It can be treated. Depression is caused by a combination of the 3 factors – genetic predisposition, the environment and chemical imbalances in the brain. The most important chemicals are serotonin, which is greatly reduced in depression.
1.2. Insomnia
After a good night’s sleep, one feels fresh and rested. This does not always depend on the duration of the dream, but on its quality. Sleep problems also have different origins, but are ultimately due again to an impaired balance of chemicals in the brain. The main substance on which the onset and duration of sleep depends is melatonin, but the levels of melatonin in the brain and the sensitivity of brain structures to melatonin are determined by serotonin levels.
Serotonin plays a decisive role in the quality of sleep. At high levels of serotonin, the phases of deep sleep are prolonged, thanks to which the brain is restored and the person feels fresh and rested, at the expense of the less important preparatory phases of sleep. While preparations containing melatonin have some effect in older patients with low melatonin levels, in younger people insomnia and poor sleep are much more affected by serotonin levels than 5-hydroxytryptophan, respectively.
1.3. Anxiety and anxiety
The states of anxiety and anxiety are also due to low levels of serotonin, so by increasing its levels, these conditions improve significantly, until they disappear completely.
1.4. Migraines and headaches
Chronic headaches, and especially migraines, are thought to be the result of low levels of serotonin, most likely due to its increased breakdown in the brain.
The administration of 5-hydroxytryptophan increases the production of serotonin by the body and thus reduces the sensitivity to pain. 5-hydroxytryptophan reduces the number, severity and intensity of attacks in chronic headaches and migraines by over 70%.
1.5. Obesity
During dieting, levels of tryptophan in the blood and serotonin in the brain decrease significantly. These low levels of serotonin in obese patients cause a strong desire for carbohydrate intake, most notably sweet and subsequent overeating.
Taking 5-hydroxytryptophan during and after a diet increases serotonin levels, leading to earlier satiety, easier adherence to diet, lack of overeating and weight loss.
1.6. Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by fatigue, muscle aches, joints and tendons, multiple points of hypersensitivity to the body, most often accompanied by low levels of serotonin.
The use of 5-hydroxytryptophan improves and helps to manage the symptoms of fibromyalgia in the absence of side effects.
1.7. Bad habits
When giving up bad habits such as excessive alcohol, smoking, etc., maintaining adequate levels of serotonin by taking 5-hydroxytryptophan helps to more easily tolerate and comply with daily activity restrictions and in the absence of harmful habits.
3. WHO IS NEOLEXAN FOR?
Neolexan is intended for people suffering from conditions associated with low levels of serotonin, as well as for those who follow a diet and / or quit bad habits such as smoking, alcohol and more.
