What Micomax is and what it is used for

Mycomax belongs to the group of antifungal medicines. The active substance is fluconazole.

Mycomax is used to treat fungal infections and can also be used to help protect you against candidiasis.
Fungal infections are most commonly caused by yeast called Candida.

Adults
This medicine may be prescribed by your doctor for the treatment of the following types of fungal infections:

Cryptococcal meningitis – a fungal infection of the brain.
Coccidioidomycosis – a disease of the bronchi and lungs.
Infections caused by fungi called Candida that are localized in the bloodstream, internal organs (eg heart, lungs) or urinary tract.
Mucosal candidiasis – an infection affecting the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat and as a result of dental procedures.
Genital candidiasis – infection of the vagina or penis.
Skin infections, e.g. fungal infections of the foot (athlete’s foot), fungal infections of the skin known as trichophytosis, fungal infections of the groin, nail infections.
You may also be given Micomax in the following cases:

stop the recurrence of cryptococcal meningitis;
stop the recurrence of mucosal fungal infection;
to limit recurrence of vaginal candidiasis;
to avoid becoming infected with Candida infection (if your immune system is weak or not working properly).
