What Finasteride Accord 5 mg film-coated tablets are and what they are used for
Finasteride belongs to a group of medicines called 5? -Reductase inhibitors.
They act by reducing the size of the prostate gland in men.
Finasteride diminishes the prostate in men when it is enlarged. Finasteride Accord is used to treat and control benign (non-cancerous) prostate enlargement (benign prostatic hyperplasia – BPH). The prostate gland is located beneath the bladder (but exists only in males). It produces the secretion that is an integral part of the semen (sperm). The enlarged prostate gland can lead to a condition called “benign prostatic hyperplasia” (BPH). Finasteride causes shrinkage of the enlarged prostate, improves urinary flow and symptoms caused by BPH, and reduces the risk of sudden inability to urinate (known as acute urinary retention) and the need for surgical intervention.

What is BPH?
If you have BPH, it means that your prostate is enlarged. It can press the urinary passage through your way out of your body.
This can lead to problems such as:

A feeling that you need to urinate more often, especially at night;
Feeling that you need to urinate immediately;
Difficulty urinating;
When you urinate, the flow of urine is weak;
When you urinate, the urine flow stops;
A feeling that you can not empty your bladder completely.
In some men, BPH can lead to more serious problems, such as:

Urinary tract infections;
Sudden inability to urinate;
Need for surgery.

Children
Finasteride should not be taken by children.

Finasteride usually does not interact with other medicines. No clinically significant drug interactions have been identified. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Finasteride tablets can be taken with or without food.
