FAMOTIDIN Table 20 mg. * 20

1. Indications

treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcer disease;
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD);
bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract;
hypersecretory conditions (such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome);
acute chronic pancreatitis;
prophylaxis of aspiration pneumonia in patients undergoing surgery.

Dosage:
For ulcer treatment: The usual daily dose is one 40mg tablet. daily. This usual dose may be changed depending on how your body responds to the treatment. The doctor will prescribe the tablets for four to eight weeks.

To reduce the likelihood of recurrence of duodenal ulcer:
Half a tablet (20mg) late at night.

To relieve the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux:
Your doctor may instruct you to take one tablet a day (40mg) (usually one tablet in the morning and one late in the evening) for 6-12 weeks.

For treatment of severe oesophageal reflux:
Two tablets (80mg) a day, usually two tablets in the morning and two late in the evening) for 6-12 weeks.

To reduce the likelihood of recurrence of symptoms and scarring (erosions and ulceration) of gastro-oesophageal reflux:
40mg. daily (one tablet in the morning and one late in the evening).

For the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome:
One tablet every 6 hours (80 mg daily).

Famotidine should not be prescribed to children.

7. Overdose.

There is no evidence of overdosage of famotidine even at doses of 640 mg daily. In the event of an overdose, the amount of product taken should be eliminated from the stomach, the patient placed under control and maintenance treatment.
