What Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid is and what it is used for

The active substance in Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid is ciprofloxacin. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic in the fluoroquinolone group. Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid works by destroying certain bacteria that cause infection. It is effective against certain bacterial strains.

Adults

In adults Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid is used to treat the following infections: respiratory tract infections;

prolonged or recurrent ear or sinus infections;

urinary tract infections;

genital tract infections in men and women;

gastrointestinal and abdominal infections;

skin and soft tissue infections;

bone and joint infections;

to prevent infection with the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis; in the inhalation of anthrax spores.

Ciproflixxin may be used in patients with low leukocyte counts (neutropenia) with fever due to bacterial infection

If you have a severe infection or one caused by more than one type of bacteria, you may be prescribed other antibiotic treatment in addition to Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid.

Tsetse and teens

In children and adolescents Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid is used under strict medical supervision to treat the following infections:

lung and bronchial infections in children and adolescents suffering from cystic fibrosis; complicated urinary tract infections, including infections affecting the kidneys (acute pyelonephritis); in the inhalation of anthrax spores.

Ciprofloxacin Alkaloid can also be used to treat other serious infections in children and adolescents when the doctor deems it necessary.
