What is Lexotan and what it is used for
Lexotane contains the active substance bromazepam, which belongs to a group of medicines known as benzodiazepines.
Lexotane is prescribed by the physician for people suffering from severe anxiety, tension and other somatic or psychiatric complaints related to anxiety syndrome.
It is used as an adjunct in the treatment of anxiety or agitation related to mental disorders such as affective disorders and schizophrenia.
Benzodiazepines are indicated for the treatment of severe, debilitating disorders only or in cases where the individual is subjected to extreme distress.
Only a short course of treatment with Lexotan is recommended.
Anterograde amnesia can be observed at therapeutic doses, with the risk increasing at higher doses. The effects of amnesia may be accompanied by inappropriate behavior (see section 4.4. Special warnings and special precautions for use),
Existing depression can be detected while using benzodiazepines.
Mental and “paradoxical” reactions
It is known that when using benzodiazepines or benzodiazepine-like drugs, reactions such as anxiety, agitation, irritation, aggression, madness, anger, nightmares, hallucinations, psychoses, inappropriate behavior, and other unwanted behavior (4.4.) May occur. Special warnings and special precautions for use). If so, the use of the drug should be discontinued. They are more likely to occur in children and the elderly than in other patients.
Use (even at therapeutic doses) can lead to the development of physical dependence. Discontinuation of treatment may cause withdrawal or rebound events (see section 4.4. Special warnings and special precautions for use). Psychic dependence may occur. Benzodiazepine abuse has been reported.
