What is Activevel® and what it is used for
Activive® is a continuous combination hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It contains two types of female hormones, estrogen and progestogen. Activive® is used in postmenopausal women whose menstruation stopped more than 1 year ago.
Activive® is used for:
Relieving symptoms that occur after menopause
During menopause, the amount of estrogen formed in a woman’s body decreases. This can cause symptoms such as hot face, neck and breasts (“hot flushes”) – Activivel® relieves these symptoms after menopause. You will only be prescribed Activivel® if your symptoms severely complicate your daily routine.
After menopause, some women may develop bone thinning (osteoporosis). You should discuss with your doctor all treatment options.
If you are at increased risk for osteoporosis fractures and if other medicines are not suitable for you, you can use Activive® to prevent osteoporosis after menopause.
Activive® is prescribed to women whose uterus has not been removed and whose menstruation stopped more than 1 year ago.
There is limited experience in the treatment of women older than 65 years with Activive®.
