What Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma is and what it is used for
Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma 100 mg contains, as active substance, 50 mg, spironolactone.
The tablets are film-coated, ie are covered with a protective sheath.
Spironolactone belongs to a group of medicines known as aldosterone antagonists, which inhibit the action of the hormone aldosterone. One of the functions of aldosterone is to ensure the maintenance of sodium in the body. Aldosterone is part of a system that regulates the balance of fluids and salts in the body (the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system – RAAS). Spironolactone stimulates urine output in patients who have fluid buildup in the tissues (edema) or in the abdominal cavity (ascites) by increasing the amount of sodium (salt) released into the urine. The loss of potassium, as a possible consequence of the use of some diuretics, is reduced.
It lowers high blood pressure and corrects potassium content in conditions where its concentration is reduced.
The antihypertensive effect is based on the separation of water and salt.
Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma tablets are used to treat:
Congestive heart failure – a heart condition that can lead to easy fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling of the ankles;
Liver cirrhosis combined with edema and / or ascites – a chronic liver disease with free fluid in the abdominal cavity;
In ascites (collecting fluid in the abdominal cavity) due to a malignant disease;
Nephrotic syndrome – kidney disease, accompanied by impaired renal function and development of edema.
In these diseases, the product is administered alone, but more often in conjunction with other medicines and diuretics, especially when its potassium-preserving effect is required and when it is not sufficiently achieved with the other agents used.
Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma is used as an adjunct in the complex treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially in patients with a tendency for hypokalemia (low levels of potassium in the blood).
Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma can also be used in medical studies (diagnostics) to confirm the presence of disorders that produce too high aldosterone levels in the adrenal cortex (known as Kon disease) and their treatment.
Children should only be treated under the supervision of a pediatrician.
